go digital get rid of cassettes
I’ve been a reseller of office equipment for a number of years now. While I still have cassette based voice recorders and transcription equipment for those who need it (lately, it all seems to get sold so Canada, not sure why), most of my clients now want digital dictation equipment. It’s easy to see why. First of all, it’s cheaper and easier to get the work transcribed. You can securely email the recordings or upload to to a secure server the the transcriptionist can access the files even if she lives in the middle of nowhere in central Nebraska and you live in manhattan. I do recommend sticking with American based (or at least native English speakers) transcriptionists if that’s what language your recording is in. yes, it’s cheaper to go overseas but the quality of your transcription will suffer somewhat.
